Blogtoberfest - Last Day!

Well Blogtoberfest comes to an end today - it has been very interesting, and I didn't have the opportunity to get around to a lot of the other participants so if you are one of them, don't worry.

I will eventually get to your blog!

Getting Prepared

Tomorrow Alan has to go into hospital for a gastroscopy, so I have been fishing out my needles and my crochet hooks, and winding some silk yarn into balls.  They're ready to go in their individual plastic bags along with a good book for me.

The hospital is a distance from here, so I will be staying there, rather than coming home and then driving back into the city - it is so hard to get parking in there!

So I will have plenty to do while Alan snoozes!

Doing Something Else

I'm sorry to inform you that Saturdays Slideshows and Snapshots has been cancelled for tonight. It will be back next week, so don't be too upset!!

Instead, I wanted to show you my mood board that I have put together for Blogging Your Way, This board should reflect how you want your blog to be, I confused myself awfully with this one, I tried all sorts of programmes online, and photshop but I  just couldn't work out how to do it!!

So I turned to Microsoft Word and came up with this:

I still don't know if I did everything right, but I like it.

Do you think it's OK??

More on the Garden

I thought it might be nice to show you all what is left of the garden flowers after all the shocking winds we have had over the past few weeks- all of the orchids have been blown away  till next year!!

The plain red lilies are still flowering - the red and white striped ones have gone

The large succulent has just begun to open it's flowers - it is covered in big buds

Jasmine and bougainvillea intertwined over the fence - the smell of the Jasmine is gorgeous!

This poor little red riding hood is still going - I have no idea how it keeps this up!

Blue Plumbago beside the draceana

The fish are very happy - they have been chasing one another all around the tank - well it is Spring here, lets see if we get any babies this year!
The weeds all over the garden are extremely happy, time for the weed killer!

Another Table Runner!

This one is for the coffee table out in the Bali Hut in the garden!   It's lovely bright colours are very cheery and I have enough blocks left to do a sort of place mat as well:

A straight on shot - aren't the colours beautiful? This picture is very true for the colour.

I thought I might add some beady pretties to the two ends, but when I put it on the coffee table, I don't think it needs any more - would you agree?

I forgot to show you the back:

The colour here is not as accurate - this was done under the side patio.  2 pretty pinks and quilted with light mauve.  I'll show you the place mat when it's finished!

Copyright for Australian Bloggers

I have been reading my friend Janine Whitling's blog, and she has been investigating copyright law in  the US, and how it applies to bloggers.

Very interesting read. So I thought that I would have a look at our Australian laws and how copyright may protect us.  I have often wondered about Pinterest and pinning from other's blogs. Wow, there's a minefield!

If you are interested in the law around copyright, I found this site, Arts Law: Legal issues for bloggers is full of very interesting information. Go and have a read - I am off now to find a disclaimer to put on our blog!

I Need Some Input

I've decided that it is time I got some input from the followers of this blog. It's probably because it's Blogtober, but I'm finding it difficult to think of things to write about every day!!

So' is there anyone who would like to suggest what they would like to see?

Would you like some more tutorials, some interviews with some people, give me some ideas! I will give anything a go if you want it! (within reason thanks)!

You know what I am like in Blogtober, so help please!! Come on everyone, surely together we can come up with some interesting stuff.....

I await your input with great enthusiasm!!

I know how these plus quilts can annoy , so I find this gorgeous - the fabrics are bright and cheerful, and she has added some 2 1/2 " squares for me also! They are destined for my granny quilt.

Week 2 Homework

For week 2 our homework for Blogging Your Way is to make a "Mood Board" for your blog.

It is a representation of how your ultimate blog would look like, so we paste pics or logos or whatever to t his board and make it the way we want our blog to be.

I've had fun so far, paying with Photoshop, and online with Picmaster, but so far I haven't liked much that I have done!

Luckily, we have until October 30th to get it done, along with the other homework...
I'm having some problems uploading photographs tonight, so I'm sorry, but I can't upload a gratuitous photo for you on this post!  Smile!!

Saturdays Slideshows and Snapshots

Week 2 is here, gee I hope we do better than last week!  Of course we will!

I'm sick of playing with Photoshop tonight - I'm going snapshots!

I  have some beautiful shots of our garden, which refers back to what I said that inspires me, have a look and you will understand I'm sure:

My garden gives me endless joy, Alan ands I sit out there often, when we are not working out there and just look.

The colours and the textures are inspiring - shows me that there are  no clashing colours in this world - just stick some green in with them! It makes everything all right.

Our weather yesterday was very wild and woolly, and the day before we had rain! So the garden has been rained on and then blown about like nothing you have seen! All the orchids have died and the pic above looked so lovely amongst the battered bushes!

Join and and tell us what you have found inspired you this week, won't you??

Week 1 Post 3

For my Blogging Your Way week 1 Post 3, I have chosen to post about "what inspires me and why."

It's really not difficult to explain , and then you may think I'm crazy! You wouldn't be the first, so here goes!

  • I am inspired by the way that women are standing up now and saying "this is what I do, and it's worth something!"  That is such a great thing, when I was growing up, women did not have that vision, they were content to be at home and to not value their importance in the world.  Times have changed dramatically.
  • I am inspired by the fabrics that I have now to work with - the colours and the feel of them, they are alive in their own special way, and I love being able to help them express their beauty in my own way.
  • I am inspired by the beautiful colours and types of yarn I can use now - gone are the days when we could only buy 4 or 8 ply yarns, and they scratched and gave (me) a rash!
  • I am inspired by the country of India, the people, the culture, their spirituality and the wonderful colours again.  Unfortunately, at this time of my life I may not be able to fly overseas again, so I very wistfully have to look at that beautiful country on the television and in books - I especially love the Indian cookbooks that I collect. I won't give up on my dream to go there yet though!
Well that's wee 1's homework completed. How do you think I went? Do you now know more about me? Make sure you come back tomorrow and join in with Saturdays Slideshows and Snapshots now!!

Week 1 Post 2

For this 2nd post as homework for the Blogging Your Way ecourse I am doing, I would like to share with you a goal that I have set myself for 2013.

I would love to have a separate blog, on my own, about my crochet and knitting. Does that sound good?

I have noticed that not many people like to make comments on my current "Crochet and Knitting Page" here, so I thought that perhaps a different blog where viewers could more easily comment, and I could more easily post, might be a good idea. Do you agree with me, or am I being a bit too particular?

Anyhows, I'm going to go about it and try and have it up and running by January 2013.  I say that because I have just so much going on at this moment, that I just don't have time for anything else! But that's life, isn't it? One day your sitting around with nothing to do, and then the year catches up and you have to hit the ground running!! That's where I am now!

So between now and January next year I shall work on that crochet blog, and I'll let you all know when it is finally up.  You can be my first readers!! That would be good too...

One of my Favourite Blogs

Hallo everyone!
A part of my Week 1 homework with Blogging Your Way, is to "blog about one of your favourite blogs" or at least that is the choice I have made tonight.  And of course, this all goes in well with Blogtober!

So I would like to talk to you about my favourite blog, "Patchwork Times" by Judy Laquidara.
Judy is a quilter and a long armer who lives in Texas with her lovely husband and a dog called "Speck".  They have just become grandparents to their first little angel, a girl named Adalina.

I love this blog for so many reasons:
  • Judy has a way of blogging that makes me feel that she is sharing her story with me
  • She writes as I imagine she speaks
  • She is so generous of her work and her patterns
  • Judy takes photographs of absolutely everything in her world, and shares them with us as though we are family -
  • I love the home stories, like about the chickens and Speck, her dachshund
  • She shares her recipes
  • Judy hosts lots of blog parties where lots of people link u p to her and share their blogs and their latest works
  • There is always just so much going on at Patchwork Times, I wonder sometimes how Judy ever gets any quilting done!!
I make sure every morning that I take a look at Judy's blog first, before anything else.

Do you have favourite blog as well?

Let's take a look at one another's favourite's, in your comment just leave the name of your favourite blog and why you like them so much.

This could be lots of fun!

Here's my favourite picture of the fairy house at the bottom of my garden, totally unrelated, I know, but it's so cute!!
