I've Been Piecing

Thought I might show you what I have been up to lately with my piecing.

Here is a lovely quilt I have started for Alan for Christmas - he chose the colours and I am having a ball putting them together, it is fun!

The quilt is really effective when it is finished, and I think it's a man's quilt too.  I used my Baby Go to cut the pieces, with some help from my friend Tanya, and this is just four of the 64 blocks I need to do for a good sized man's quilt.I think you can see how it will look when it is put together - it is difficult to see where one block starts and one finishes when they are all together!

I've also been doing some hexagons, and I am going to make some dilly bags from them - I just forgot to take pictures this evening, but I will later!

I'm very happy with this quilt, it's coming together very easily.  Do you like it?

Take Care

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone!

Firstly, please let me say a big "ThankYou" to all who commented on my last post - I hereby promise to be a good patient and simply relax and recover! It's a bit hard though!

Anyhow, we are back to show our "stick", and here is mine - trust me!

Here is one of the first quilts i ever made, and I am amazed that the iron on patches that I have scattered over it, still stick to the fabric like the day they were done!

This was a post rail quilt, simple and easy for the beginning, and I really did agonize over the placement of every single piece of fabric.  I put so much work into that quilt,  ensuring that all my seams were the obligatory 1/4 inch.  I think  you can see what happened to that!

Unfortunately, most of the fabric I used was very cheap and nasty and by the time I had finished the piecing, some seams were already unraveling!

I was frantic! I simply didn't know what to do! So I eventually trotted out to Spotlight (our version of Joannes) and bought all these iron on stickers, which I raced home and ironed on, and that was about 8-9 years ago I think.  Some of them didn't quiet fit...

This quilt lives in our  TV room, and gets thrown on chairs, on the floor, on dogs, on dog beds - it is washed just about weekly, and still those iron on patches stick!!

True story!

So, come on everyone, sign on with Mr Linky below and show is your "stick"

The Really Long Night!

Hi everybody!  Boy! Again I owe you all a great big large apology. But please let me try to explain why!

I shall attempt to not get too medical- shmedical here, so we start.

I went into hospital on Wednesday 15th October, for an overnight stay, following a small heart procedure.

I got home today.

The small heart procedure turned into a rerun of Ben Hur, where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, and everything that no body thought would happen, did!!

What a week!!

So finally I am home and resting in my own bed and will be back on Sunday with my "stick", for your viewing pleasure.

I am so sorry that I have wasted yet again another week, but I'm afraid that this has just not been my best year! Next year should be better!!

So I hope that you are all much better than I, and i look
forward to catching up on Sunday evening.

Take care.

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone! Welcome to a new week , while I am here I would like to run something by you for next year.

You know how most of us have zillions and zillions of  photographs that we have taken, sitting on our computer and on discs and no one looks at them?

I thought that we might do this:-
Once a month I give you a phrase, or a word, or a feeling and you then go to your stored photographs and find two or even three or four, if you like, pictures that depict that phrase, word or feeling. I would have a Linky up so that you could sign in and show us your photographs, the same as now. The difference would be that you won't have to go and take a specific photograph, and you can post more than one, and you explain why they fit that phrase, word or feeling.  Also.it would only be once a month , of course!! I'm thinking of calling it The Monthly Challenge 2015! Any other names would be welcome!

How does that sound for next year?  Can I have a show of hands please? I'll do it regardless, and you can just sign in when you feel like it.

I saw the idea somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't remember where. I know it was someone else's blog, so if you know who it was, please let me know, so I can credit them with the idea.

So, that should start when our current 52 weeks are up.

So, after that tangent, the word for this week is  "stick".

See you back here next week, or sooner, perhaps, with pics of our word, or something else.

Have a good week and take care.

Week 37 of 52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Well, I had myself in a real "pickle" this week, wondering which way to go with this word!

So, I made a decision, and this is what I came up with:-

Sharyn Baldwin

48 boards

If you just hop over to my side bar , you will see the button to press for my Pinterest.  I have 48 boards, and I "pin" lots and lots of "stuff" that I don't want to lose, onto them.

While my version does not exactly match the dictionary version below, taken from The Oxford online dictionary:-

"pin1

Line breaks: pin
Pronunciation: /pɪn

/

NOUN

1A thin piece of metal with a sharp point at one end and a round head at the other, used forfastening pieces of clothpaperetc.
1.1small brooch or badge:a gold and diamond lapel pin
2A metal projection from a plug or an integrated circuit which makes an electrical connection with a socket or another part of a circuit:[AS MODIFIER, IN COMBINATION]: a three-pin plug

3

VERB (pinspinningpinned)

[WITH OBJECT AND ADVERBIAL]
1Attach or fasten with a pin or pins:he pinned the badge on to his lapelher hair was pinned back
2Hold (someone) firmly in a specified position so they are unable to move:
3[WITH OBJECT] Chess Hinder or prevent (a piece or pawn) from moving because of the danger to a more valuable piece standing behind it along the line of an attack:the black rook on e4 is pinned"
I do believe that in this day and age, "pin" has been expanded to include the verb"pin" as in "Pin to Pinterest.
Do you agree?
Obviously, I have had to thing laterally with this one, as I didn't have the opportunity to go photographing much this week.  Please feel free to pop on over to my Pinterest and take a look, won't you?
I f you were wondering, that is Priscilla with me in the photograph, wearing her sun hat - isn't she adorable in it?
Join in whenever you like, and show us your "pin".  I will be back tomorrow evening with next week's word.  See you then

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

My fingers are not working properly tonight, the words keep coming up wrong!

Hope you are all as well as I

Today is the day for our new word, so here it is!

The word for this week is:- "pin".

I don't know what I think of that one yet, I'll  have to think about it some more, perhaps.

Please join in any time that you like, we do have lots of fun playing with these words each week, it is such a pity that everyone doesn't join in with us - remember, the more the merrier!

See you back here next Sunday evening for your photographs!

Have a great week and take care.

The Wedding

The wedding that we attended on Saturday, was a really happy and fun wedding. I do hope that loading doesn't take too long for you - there's a few pictures!!

Here are just a few pictures from it:-

3 weeks prior to the wedding, and here are my grandchildren, Jessica and Aaron, helping their mother into her wedding dress which required some hem adjustments

and here is Ruth, on a chair in my kitchen while I pin up the hems of her dress, and here am I, double chins and grimacing, with a mouthful of pins (yes I do that!!)!!

The wedding was held on 4th October, at Ruth's parents home on the front lawn( they live on acreage, so plenty of room)

Here we have the groom and his helpers, waiting for the bride to arrive

and here she comes! on the first Harley , followed by Aaron on the second!

Here Ruth is showing her mother the damage done to her frock on the exhaust of the Harley!! Never mind, it was on with the wedding regardless!!

Ruth was given away by her father and her son, Aaron. Here they are  about to walk down the aisle.

It's all over bar the shouting here!

The happy couple

A nice photograph of them - Ruth and Darren. Ruth wore a Captain's hat, as Darren is an ex fisherman and still works on the water, but now he is in his home port!

Aaron and Jessica after the wedding, they are with Ruth's mother, Yvonne. Unfortunately she got her head chopped in half!!

We left just after the ceremony, as I was not feeling very well. But I would not have missed this for the world!  Alan and I are just so happy for them both.
